What is 118 mobile?
“Mobile search made easy” has been a key goal for us when we wanted to create the best mobile search experience finding people, phone numbers, addresses and companies.
The situation in Norway in 2005 was that there were millions of people every day that did a search trough SMS to find a number or a name. The “crazy” thing about this was the fact that one single search cost up to 1 Euro for a SMS search and even more to call 18xx services. The "product" they bought was basically some bytes of data and they could not even store the search result to their the phone book in a easy way.
We then decided that it was time to radically change both the technology and the price regime. We sat a goal where we wanted the search experience to be much more consumer friendly and a price that gave real value for money. This was the simple birth of 118 mobile application.
The 118 mobile is most known for its cool feature of searching unknown numbers in real time and present name and address of the callers before you answer your call, but the service is much more than that. You can use it to search for tens of millions of numbers, names and addresses accessible within a push of a button. You can see map, store directly into your phone book from search result. On phones like Symbian and Windows mobile it is even integrated with the phones call log and from there you can do a search with a simple click.

The application is design to be used when you are walking and even when you are driving….. We present up to 50 results and it is superfast to scroll to find what you are looking for. You can navigate in the list and even in the detail view by clicking up and down with your jog pad.(buttons) |

When you are in the detail view screen, you can chose to call, view map, send SMS or even save directly in v-card format directly to your phones phone book. When there is email address available we even show that. We can show almost everything. It’s up to you do decide…. |
